42" Sailfish Half Sided Fish Mount

This beautiful 42" right facing sailfish half sided fish mount is part of our half sided series and is a nice decor size piece. This half sided fish mount replicates a juvenile sailfish and produced more for decor than a celebration of a catch. A half sided fish mount is produced by casting the front part of our two sided wall mount molds. When displayed the circumference of the half mount is either touching the wall or very close to the wall. This process cuts labor and supplies cost and therefore results in a lower price point however the skin texture and finishing process is the same as a traditional full mount. 

Sailfish Fish Mount Paint Schedule

We paint our sailfish replicas to look "lit up" and alive as if it was swimming on your wall. Bright cobalt blue dorsal sail with a hint of purple, a bronze side band, electric baby blue vertical bands and a nice iridescent blue on his back makes this beautiful sailfish a perfect piece of decoration for your new house, office or Florida room. Like other fish, Sailfish can have many different variations of coloring however our standard paint job includes the above mentioned features. The final step of the finishing process is to spray a UV protecting clear coat to give it superior protection indoors or outside. We do not custom paint our half sided series replicas.

Sailfish Half Sided Fish Replica Installation

Each sailfish fish mount in our half sided series arrives with a fiberglass hanger on the backside of the fish mount. This allows for easy installation once you receive your new fish mount.  The standard hanger mentioned above is intended for indoor use or very light wind areas outside.  If you would like to place your new sailfish fish replica outdoors or in very windy areas please reach out to us to inquire about our outdoor hanger option.

In the 70s and 80s taxidermists would ask their clients to bring in their sailfish and the taxidermist would skin the sailfish, preserve the bill, fins, skin, dorsal fin and tail and then produce a body form allowing the taxidermist to put them all back to create a sailfish mount.  Fast forward to nowadays and it is difficult to even find a taxidermist that will take the time to do all the above mentioned work due the ability to source a sailfish blank made out of fiberglass and gel coat.
