What is the difference between a half sided fish mount and a two sided wall mount, traditionally called a full mount?
Half sided fish mount replicas were developed to create an affordable alternative to full mount replicas. In full mount fiberglass fish mount production, two sides (the front and the back) are cast with fiberglass and then must be bonded together. This takes time with the challenge coming from sanding the bonding agent where the two sides meet to hide the seem and replicate the fish's skin texture.
With half mount taxidermy we only cast the front side of the replica. This saves time and material costs, and we pass along the savings to you the customer. All of our half mount replicas are very straight from head to tail with the circumference of the replica very close to the wall if not touching. This way you can not see the unfinished backside of the replica that is against the wall. Half mount replicas make the perfect interior or exterior wall decoration.
Many restaurants and businesses choose this form of fish taxidermy for decoration for half mounts are easy to hang, easy to clean, and less expensive than full mount taxidermy.
