53" Barracuda Half Mount

This barracuda fish mount is part of our half sided series. A half sided mount is produced by casting the front part of our two sided wall mount molds. When displayed the circumference of the half mount is either touching the wall or very close to the wall. This process cuts labor and supplies cost and therefore results in a lower price point however the skin texture and finishing process is the same as a traditional full mount.

Barracuda Half Mount Paint Schedule

Barracuda are notorious for their intimidating stare and their ferocious teeth. Barracudas normally have a bluefish back color blending into a silvery side and white belly. Sometimes their back might be greenish depending on their surroundings. Normally they have a series of blackish bands coming off their backs at an angle with a few dark splotches on their side. Our standard paint job includes the above mentioned features with the blue back. The final step of the finishing process is to spray a UV protecting clear coat to give it superior protection indoors or outside. We do not custom paint our half sided series replicas.

Half Mount Installation

Each fish mount in our half sided series comes with a fiberglass hanger on the backside of the fish mount. This allows easy installation once you receive your new fish mount. The simplest and best procedure to install the new half sided fish mount is to have one person (or hold in one hand if doing it solo) and the other person (or hand) mark where the hanger on the backside touches the wall. The take two, approximately 2 inch, screws and drill them into the wall about 4" from each other on a slight upward slant so that the resined hanger on the back of the fish mount can slide down onto those two screws and hang on the wall for many years of enjoyment.

Did you know that Barracuda are very optimistic predators that rely on very fast, short bursts of speed to sabotage their prey. The are especially fond of unaware anglers above and when the anglers catch fish they quickly attack and steal the catch. Barracudas can be often be found around artificial and natural structure since they enjoy a large assorted of prey including jacks, grunts, groupers, snappers, mullet, killifishes, herrings, anchovies, goggle eyes, mackerel and even small tunas. Barracuda are also know to have high levels of ciguatera and a common rumor in the Caribbean is that if you want to know whether a fish has ciguatera you place it next to an ant pile and if the ants begin to eat it the fish has no ciguatera however if they do not eat it than neither should you! Haha, we'll pass on that. All of our barracuda fish mounts are made to resemble this ferocious, fish stealing, reef monster.
