27" Yellowtail Snapper Half Mount

This yellowtail fish mount is part of our half sided series. A half sided mount is produced by casting the front part of our two sided wall mount molds. When displayed the circumference of the half mount is either touching the wall or very close to the wall but the tail comes off the wall about 5 inches. This process cuts labor and supplies cost and therefore results in a lower price point however the skin texture and finishing process is the same as a traditional full mount.

Yellowtail Snapper Half Mount Paint Schedule

Yellowtail Snapper are a sought after gamefish throughout South Florida, The Florida Keys, The Bahamas and many other areas of the Caribbean. Yellowtail Snapper are normally a light blue color on their backs with yellow speckle markings on that blue area with a very solid band that runs from their eyes down their side to their tails and fans to include the entire tail. Normally they will also have a few solid yellow lines that run from their gill areas to their tail under the solid band mentioned above. Our standard paint job includes the above mentioned features. The final step of the finishing process is to spray a UV protecting clear coat to give it superior protection indoors or outside. We do not custom paint our half sided series replicas.

Each fish mount in our half sided series arrives with a fiberglass hanger on the backside of the fish mount. This allows easy installation once you receive your new fish mount.

Yellowtail snapper are a thriving species of fish that are found through out the Western Atlantic Ocean including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The only common area to find them in the United States is Southern Florida. Anglers can normally find them around coral reefs between 40 and 200 feet. A common way to fish for this snapper species is to anchor up stream from the coral reef and disperse baitfish chum to bring the yellowtail up in the water column and then toss baited hooks and/or jigs into the chum slick. Light line is important as these species of fish have great eyesight. Fluorocarbon in the 15-25# range is most common with experienced anglers and charter fishing outfits. These fish are exceptional to eat, especially if you have the culinary skill to pan fry them whole, which is a common dish in the southern Caribbean and Mexico.

The world record yellowtail is right at 9lbs but a trophy yellowtail snapper in the 4-5lb range surely would warrant a yellowtail snapper fish mount so you can commemorate that special catch for years to come.
